The leak resulted from Final Fantasy XV’s benchmark database, which is currently a trustworthy source for such leaks. The ‘Super’ variant of the GeForce RTX 2070 puts a significant margin between itself and the GPU it is replacing (RTX 2070), though it cannot compete with the GeForce RTX 2080 or GTX 1080 Ti as expected.
It was forecasted by enthusiasts that these Super variants would be about 10-15% better than their standard counterparts, which seems to be accurate so far. The GeForce RTX 2070 Super recorded a 13.5% greater FPS rate than the normal version in Final Fantasy XV. There could even more improvement upon this result with new drivers, though this is a bit unlikely.
While this isn’t a huge bump in performance, it certainly helps Nvidia one-up AMD’s new releases. Looking at this particular benchmark, it’s clear to see that between the RTX 2070 Super and the Radeon RX 5700 XT, there is a very clear winner. However, it must also be noted here that Final Fantasy XV favors Nvidia’s GPUs more than AMD’s, which somewhat explains the lackluster performance of the Radeon 5700/XT. In this title, the Radeon RX 5700 just about beats the GTX 1660 Ti. While the RTX 2070 beats the 5700 XT by about 22%, a clearer picture will only be noted when other games are benchmarked. This leak perhaps shows more about just how much Final Fantasy XV favors Nvidia’s hardware as opposed to AMD, whose GPUs are seen struggling all-round.
