Noctua is a brand-name for high performance air cooling at this point. it’s The first choice for hardcore PC enthusiasts. However, they do say that silence is golden. Somebody probably told Noctua about this saying given what they have planned. Noctua is gearing up to launch an absolutely fanless heatsink be the end of this year. They say that they’re “driven by performance and efficiency considerations.”
at this point, you might be asking: “But…can it handle my i9-9900k or Ryzen 9 3950x?”. Though there’s no real figures to quote yet, here’s some data to go by:
At Computex 2019, Noctua revealed a very gainly heatsink that could allegedly handle powers of 120W on natural, upto 180W with quiet fans. Sure, it’s not making any magazine covers. However, if it’s pin drop silence you’re after, that’s the sacrifice you’re gonna have to make. But to answer the question, it can handle that 9900k of yours swimmingly.
Speaking of design, Noctua has never been too concerned with aesthetic appeal. Their form-over-function mindset will show here as well. Noctua has already confirmed that the engineers have only performance as the objective. However, it’s their “industrial” designs that win the hearts of PC enthusiasts.
If the Computex prototype is anything to go by, we can expect this heatsink to be properly heavy. 1.5Kgs to be exact. to put that into perspective, their behemoth NH-D15 weighs 1.3Kgs!
At this time, nobody know what this heatsink is going to cost. Realistically however, i project that the price should be somewhere between $60-$100. Now all that’s left to do is wait and see what Noctua has planned for us!
