Deep Silver recently revealed today that the PC version of Metro Exodus will be available exclusively on Epic Game Store starting February 15 costing $50 while the game originally cost $60 on steam but it’s still cost 60€ in Europe.
Update: Metro Exodus will return to Steam on 15 Feb,2020.
More and more publisher have been moving to Epic Store as publishers earn more with 88 percent of the revenue going to the developer and 12 percent to the publisher as compared to the 70 & 30 percent cut that developers and publishers get through Steam.
Also earlier Division 2 skipped the Steam Store for Epic Game Store which is set launch on 15 March exclusively on Epic Game Store and Uplay. The Good news is if you have already pre-ordered Metro Exodus on steam you can still have full access to the game and future updates or DLC as promised by the developers.
If you go to the Metro Exodus page on steam you will see a notice saying:
“Notice: Later today, sales of Metro Exodus will be discontinued on Steam due to a publisher decision to make the game exclusive to another PC store.
The developer and publisher have assured us that all prior sales of the game on Steam will be fulfilled on Steam, and Steam owners will be able to access the game and any future updates or DLC through Steam.
We think the decision to remove the game is unfair to Steam customers, especially after a long pre-sale period. We apologize to Steam customers that were expecting it to be available for sale through the February 15th release date, but we were only recently informed of the decision and given limited time to let everyone know.”
Now Metro Exodus will release on Epic Game Store on 15 Feb,2019 costing $50 for Standard Edition and $75 for Gold Edition.
