PC peripheral company Logitech G has acquired Astro Gaming, adding console accessories and mix amps to its expansive valise. After buying Saitek in September 2016 for $13 million, now Logitech go on to expand its valise of brands by buying the esteemed Astro company, known mainly for its high-end gaming headset where it’s top models range is somewhat above 350 USD.
Astro Gaming was established in 2006 in San Francisco as a branch from design firm Astro Studios. Its A40 & A50 headsets quickly set a standard for premium, console equipment. This $85 million deal will post Logitech as a leader in computer and console accessories.
The head of the announcements department Ujesh Desal, chief of Logitech G announced that Astro Gaming will become part of the Logitech Gaming brand. Astro gaming sound quality and experience customization is unique. Following this investment, Astro will focus mainly on the manufacture of console products, while Logitech G will continue to focus on PC-Based gaming products. In means, it is possible that after the purchase we will not see brand new gaming headsets based on the PC, despite peripherals will be compatible with both console and PC.
“Astro is the leading player for premium console headsets and is the preferred headset for console esports athletes,” said Ujesh Desai, vice president and general manager of Logitech G, said in a statement. “It’s a perfect complement to Logitech G’s focus on PC gaming and we couldn’t be more excited; we love the team, the brand and the products.”
