Intel is to release another chipset next year, to support 8-core processors. Eurocom Corporation Canadian computer developer of high performance notebooks and laptops states that Intel’s Z390 chipset will support 8c/16th CPUs. That indicates that Z370 chipset isn’t enough, and not capable of supporting the unannounced 8-core part. The Eurocom employee claims that Z390 is supported by eight core and sixteen threads processors and would be released in the second half of 2018.
Eurocom also suggests to simply skip Z370 and go straight for Z390, which indicates that Z390 will be backwards compatible with Coffee Lake 6-core processor.
Recently leaked roadmaps have suggested that Intel’s Z390 chipset will release in the second half of 2018.
It is also unclear that these motherboards will be using the same LGA 1151 socket, or if Intel plans on doing something completely new with Z390,Time will tell.
