Asus recently launched two of it’s new gaming notebooks focused on two types of users, the Asus ROG Strix Hero (GL503VM-DB74) is specially designed for gamers who plays MOBA (Dota 2,League of Legends) while the Asus ROG Strix Scar (GL703VM-DB74) targets the players who prefer shooters games where a higher FPS is more important.
Asus ROG Strix Hero (GL503VM-DB74)
Strix Hero is equipped with a 15.6-inch IPS display at a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 with 100% sRGB color space coverage and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Talking about the internal specs Strix Hero is equipped with Core i7-7700HQ clocked at 3.80 GHz, a 16 GB of DDR4 2400 MHz RAM and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB. For storage solutions, The laptop comes with 256 GB SSD, a Sept FireCuda SSHD with 1 TB of storage and 8 GB cache, 2n1 card reader, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, four USB 3.0, one USB 3.1 Type-C and two video outputs of HDMI and DisplayPort.
The price of Asus ROG Strix Hero is expected around $1600 which is quite too much for a laptop which is desgnied for MOBA titles.
Asus ROG Strix Scar (GL703VM-DB74)
The Strix Scar model has an 17.3 inches display and it kinda looks like a grown up version of Strix Hero. In Asus ROG Strix Scar, we can choose from two different models, the GeForce GTX 1060 6GB has a display with 120Hz refresh rate (GL703VM-DB74) while the other model comes with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5 @ 144Hz, both models comes with NVIDIA G-Sync support and full HD native resolution.
Asus ROG Strix Scar with the GTX 1060 is expected to cost around $1600, while for the model with GeForce GTX 1070 would go on sale for $1900.
