AMD has revealed the actual availability of its Wraith Max CPU cooler that supports CPU’s with a TDP of up to 140W. Formerly it was only available with an AMD Ryzen 7 1800X or a Ryzen 7 1700X processor. AMD has recorded that this step has been made after realizing the high popularity of its CPU cooler which is easy to bring together and aesthetically pleasing thanks to it’s RGB LED lighting next to a nearly quiet operation with a sonority of 38 dBA at maximum speed of rotation.
The Wraith Max is only compatible with AMD processors for AM4, AM3 + and FM2 sockets where obviously the LED lighting system is RGB and can be form to suit any of the Asus motherboards with Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, Biostar Vivid LED DJ, and ASRock RGB LED while this cooler has an official App called AMD Wraith Max RGB which is developed by Cooler Master.
Despite the heatsink, The cooler comes with an aluminum radiator pierced by two copper heatpipes that transfer the heat to a copper base plate with directly made contact with the CPU. The copper base already comes with a pre-applied thermal paste while the headsink pushes away the heat with a 92 mm fan by Cooler Master. As far as its performance it competes closely to the most popular budget air cooler Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO so in terms of keeping the CPU cool an AMD Ryzen 5 1600X at full load never crossed the temps over 63C.
AMD Wraith Max performance is really impressive as compare to other budget CPU coolers although it is not a budget cooler itself because it has a price tag of $59 but it is totally worth it. The design is pretty attractive and if you want an AMD heatsink and don’t want to go with an after market cooler this one is the best choice for the budget.
